A big welcome to this weekend's featured author Kharisma Rhayne

Welcoming Kharisma Rhayne to the blog on her tour with her new book Highlander Mine

It's great to be visiting with my new release Highlander Mine.
Here’s an excerpt from Episode 4 – you’re seeing it here first.
I hope you’ll join me…along with Breandan, Auralee and their friends on their journey.
Season 1 - Episode 4

Breandon and Auralee should have had time to get to know one another, but Breandan's still hell bent on avoiding what Angus and Niall believe to be his fate. When a betrothal is announced, it won't go without consequence.

Day turned into weeks and weeks into months. Auralee fell into a routine. It became boring as the weather got worse. She was unable to really be outside. It was freezing. There was plenty of snow and the loch had frozen over.
Breandan continued to act as though she didn’t exist. He’d walk her to her room each night, simply to keep anyone else from doing it, kiss her hand and bid her sleep well.
Michealmas was upon them in no time at all and she looked forward to her first celebration. She knew it was different from her traditional Christmas and could barely wait. Niall and Angus were thrilled at her childlike enthusiasm and egged it on.
Auralee couldn’t believe she’d been in Scotland for almost a year. Samhain was again right around the corner and it would mark her one year anniversary in the past. She was surprised there wasn’t much she missed from her old life. Sure, a razor would be nice, not a knife used as one, a real razor with aloe on it for smooth skin. And going places in carts pulled by horses was rather bumpy as well.
“Auralee?” A knock on the door and Niall’s voice came strong through it.
“I’m in here, open the door. It’s not locked.” Auralee was learning to love her time with the man. She imagined he must have been wonderful to his wife. He was looking tired, though.
‘Auralee, it’s long pass the time you and Breandan should be together. We’ve been patient and tried to allow things to ease themselves to where they need to be. But, he’s not making any moves and he’s going to kill himself with all the months of extra training just to avoid you. It’s time for you to make your move, lass.” Niall sat in the chair he had pulled from the fire.
“I…me? What would I do? He’s made it clear he wants nothing to do with me. He avoids me.” Auralee wrung her hands in her skirts.
“Seduce him, lass. You know how. I saw the clothing you wore when you arrived. I’ve sent a messenger to the mender and she’ll be here in a few hours to make a few nighttime items for you.” Niall’s eyes twinkled mischievously. “Only night clothing and take her advice my dear. She’s been told to make you the bridal bedding wear as well as something that may seduce my son to lose his wits and bed you before marrying you. Then his honor will demand he asks for your hand.”
“You want me to trap him?” Auralee couldn’t believe her ears.
“I’d not call it trap, but you may use any words that you prefer. Yes. Trap. That’s exactly what you must do. I want you married in the next couple of months and with child long before the next Michealmas. I want to retire as Laird and I cannot pass it to Breandan until he is wed. Will ye do it for me, lass?”
Niall’s looked so hopeful. Auralee really hated to disappoint him. “Your son is three times my size. I won’t be able to get him to do anything he doesn’t want to do. I’d love to help you, as it’s the reason I’m told I was sent here, but I’m afraid there’s nothing I can do but wait for him to want to speak to me. He’s no desire for marriage, children, or love.”
“He just doesn’t know he wants it. I guess we’ll have to come up with something else then. Keep your appointment for your fittings. You’ll still be in need of them.” Niall walked out and left Auralee thinking of how different things could be if Breandan were capable of love.

  1. Thanks so much for having me today :D

  2. Hi Kharisma,
Thank you for dropping by, lovely to see you

  3. I love the excerpts... I still think hearing Niall's story would be good.

  4. I honestly, now that I've thought on it more...think so too. The way I envision him and his wife is a marriage of absolute love and trust. I think it would be fun to write.

  5. Hi just trying to make all the tour stops today; sorry wasn't here on the correct day!
